DMH Stallard Hosts Workshop Aimed at Technology Companies

In June DMH Stallard hosted its penultimate breakfast workshop aimed at technology companies in conjunction with BDO Stoy Hayward.

The workshop was the latest in a series advising technology companies how to create and preserve value before a trade sale or IPO. The workshop focused on the preparation necessary to make any transaction a success.  The final workshops in the series will take place on the 24th June at our London office, it is a repeat of our Gatwick workshop and will help technology companies prepare for trade sale or admission to a public market, we will examine the key issues that technology companies will need to tackle to maximise the value of the business. Click here or email James Caulfield for more information or to book your place.

Jim Ramage, Chairman of Tesla Engineering, who attended our first workshop, commented: “I found the workshop to be very useful and I will take away valuable ideas on the ways in which we can preserve value in Tesla.”  Tesla Engineering manufactures resistive and superconducting electromagnets for particle accelerators of all types, and produces specialised gradient coils for MRI scanners.

Our speakers at the third seminar include Stephen Clow, Head of DMH Stallard's Public Markets team in London; Jonathan Grant Partner in our Gatwick Corporate team and a member of our Technology sector group; John Everingham and Dr Peter Chadha from BDO Stoy Hayward's Technology team; and Kelvin King, from Valuation Consulting a BNP Paribas company who was talking about valuing Intellectual Property in technology companies.

At our previous seminar Andy Clark, Head of Forensics at Detica, demonstrated how easy it is for a technology company to lose track of who has its data and intellectual property rights including the use of everyday devices such as iPods and mobile phones. George Quigley,Partner within Risk & Advisory Services at BDO Stoy Hayward, discussed the risk implications for the business and provided guidance on undertaking an audit of relevant data and IP, and Frank Jennings, Associate in DMH Stallard’s Technology Group explained what data and intellectual property rights are relevant to a technology business and then provided guidance on how best to protect them. If you would like notes from the seminar or to talk about any of the issues then please do get in touch with me.
