DMH Stallard recently presented two seminars to the Solicitors in Local Government Association
April 14 – Data Security Seminar
On April 14 the Commercial Team at DMH Stallard ran a contract law and data security seminar from the 12th floor of DMH Stallard’s prestigious new London office.
The seminar provided an update on recent cases on the formation of contracts, an examination of recent rulings in relation to limitation of liability clauses and guidance on how local government bodies can secure data and intellectual property rights. The seminar concluded with an interactive case study on limitation clauses and involved the attendees reviewing the clause scrutinised by the judge with a view to assessing the enforceability of the clause and whether the judgment was correct. This was designed to help attendees draft enforceable limitation clauses. The seminar was followed by wine and snacks.
Solicitors in Local Government is a professional association which represents the 4,000 local government solicitors and trainees in England and Wales. According to the feedback, the attendees found the session very useful. Jenny Thorp, Head of the Local Government Group at DMH Stallard said: “This was a great opportunity for lawyers in local government to learn about developments in contract law and data security and to share best practice”.
