Frank Jennings is head of the Commercial Team in our Gatwick office and a Partner in our Technology Group and our Public Sector Group.
Frank's clients come to him for his specialist legal advice – he has extensive experience in technology law, public sector issues, intellectual property and commercial contracts. They also rely upon him for his can-do mentality and his pragmatic approach to solving problems and managing risk – he previously worked as an in-house lawyer with a Sony subsidiary and Vodafone.
Technology
Frank specialises in technology and new media and has advised clients such as ADA on managed IT services, TriSystems on software as a service / cloud computing and London Borough of Croydon on the new IT system for their one-stop reception service. Legal 500 2009 says his “knowledge is exceptional because he has worked in-house for a software firm” and he regularly speaks at conferences on these topics
Public sector
Frank advises a number of local authorities on a wide range of commercial and technology contracts and guided the London Borough of Merton on their 2009 shared HR service arrangement with the London Borough of Sutton, the first of its kind in London. He also advises on how authorities must comply with the procurement regulations.
Intellectual property rights
Frank advises on the protection and exploitation of intellectual property rights including: copyright, trade marks & brands, franchises, sponsorship arrangements and domain name transfers.
Commercial contracts
Frank also provides general commercial advice including terms of sale, distribution and agency, provision of content and services, consultancy, corporate support, confidentiality and data protection compliance.
Frank has a Masters degree in technology law and IP, is a member of Society for Computers and Law and regularly lectures on IT and IP for CLT and others.
