DMH Stallard Host Cloud Seminars

Reliability of service, data security and apportioning risk are key to customers looking to outsource to the cloud. Following on from feedback from clients and contacts, DMH Stallard, in partnership with ADA Technology Services, held two seminars last week, focusing on these and other benefits and pitfalls of cloud outsourcing.

ADA Technology Services' Chief Technology Strategist, Lee Ganly, addressed delegates on practical issues from a technology perspective. Frank Jennings and Blair Adams from DMH Stallard focused on the legal issues, including how to protect your data and the effect of the cloud on employees.

Delegates commented that the broad array of practical considerations presented at the seminars provided a great help when looking into the possibility of outsourcing.

“A very rewarding seminar which highlighted a number of important issues and was proactive, marinating a positive contribution from the audience. Thank you.”
David Kelly, Corporate Group Legal Services Manager, Surrey County Council

“Very well pitched explanation of technical information at a level that could be understood by a mixed audience. Very useful focus on the legal and commercial issues.”
Sarah Betteley, Director, Deva Medical Electronics

Frank Jennings, Head of Commercial at DMH Stallard and chair of the governance board at the cloud industry forum said:

“Recent press coverage of service outages and data loss incidents has led to customers questioning whether cloud technology is properly evolved and if cloud providers are prepared for the consequential impact of problems on customers’ businesses.  Cloud outsourcing does hold many benefits for organisations, offering flexible, scalable and reliable solutions at a reduced cost. These seminars expressed both the positive and negatives of the cloud, providing a balanced viewpoint.”

As discussed during the presentations, data security in the cloud is a key concern for businesses. This is not surprising and is a key consideration that an organisation needs to address before moving to the cloud. For best practices in cloud contracts, click here to access research undertaken earlier this year on behalf of the Cloud Industry Forum, co-sponsored by DMH Stallard.
