DMH Stallard advised Cape Sierra Hotel Company Limited on the US$41 million financing project for the new development of Hilton Freetown Cape Sierra Hotel in Sierra Leone. This high profile deal was shortlisted for the ‘African Deal of the Year’ in the African Banker Awards 2011.
DMH Stallard’s Corporate team, that included specialist advice from the firms Banking and Real Estate teams, brought together a deal team including local advisers (Basma & Macaulay and Iroko Securities) and funders (African Export-Import Bank and FBN Bank UK Ltd) in negotiating the terms of the finance as well as advising on the hotel management agreement.
Hilton Worldwide have opened five hotels in Africa in 2011 with the new Cape Sierra Hotel expected to be an important addition to their growing portfolio in emerging markets. This new property, expected to open in early 2014, will be located in Aberdeen, Freetown overlooking one of the largest natural harbours in the world.
