The Law South Mediation Scheme

It may take only two to create a dispute, but it can easily take a lot more than two to settle it.

Litigation is not cheap. Nor is it cheerful. Mediation can keep to a level which is acceptable not only the costs which will be incurred, but also the numbers of people who will need to be involved, and the management time that will have to be spent on resolving any dispute.

Choose mediation, and you get not only your own chance to settle, but also your own choice about what you put into - or take out of - the settlement pot. On top of that, no dirty linen has to be washed - or hung out to dry - in public.

All you need, then, is the right mediator to help you - and the other party - to do the deal.

Sounds good, doesn’t it?

We think so, and that’s why we are active members of the LAW SOUTH MEDIATION SCHEME.

LAW SOUTH is a group of nine commercial law firms in London and the South-East. Each firm has one of its partners as a mediator on the SCHEME panel, to help in settling disputes. The mediators are all commercial lawyers with a wealth of experience in their various fields - and those cover a pretty broad spread of commercial activity.

No-one can act as a mediator for his own client, so the idea of the LAW SOUTH MEDIATION SCHEME is that the mediators will help settle disputes for those who are clients of other firms, as well as for those who have no legal representation.
We believe in mediation as a sound, commercial way of achieving settlements, and that’s why we recommend the LAW SOUTH MEDIATION SCHEME to all those who are looking to settle their disputes quickly, cheaply and satisfactorily.

The SCHEME is run by LAW SOUTH themselves. If you’re interested in using it, just contact them (by telephone on 01243 786033, or through their web-site: www.lawsouthmediation.co.uk). They will provide you with a short-list of the mediators on the panel who are best suited to your dispute, and most experienced in the area concerned. You are then free to make your choice, and to reach agreement with the other party on which of them to appoint.

If you’d like to know more about the SCHEME, or about mediation generally, do please get in touch with me, and I’ll be happy to help.
