Real Estate

The team, led by Tina George and Martin Allen, has a strong reputation for real estate litigation and has real aptitude for delivering practical advice and commercial solutions to a range of complex property related contentious issues. Our clients include Sussex University, Dorringtons Plc, Crest Nicholson, Lloyds TSB, Raven Housing Trust, Sanctuary Housing Association and the London Development Agency.

We have extensive experience of construction disputes, title issues, Party Wall Act claims, boundary disputes, business and residential lease renewal, enfranchisement claims and advice on issues arising under the complex 1993 Act legislation, forfeiture actions, Leasehold Valuation Tribunal claims and professional negligence. The Team has experience of dealing with high value mediation and arbitration cases, including interpretation of lease covenant issues and dilapidations. Our work is conducted both within High Court and County Court jurisdictions.

We are also able to process routine type real estate work including service charge and rent arrears (both residential and commercial), as well as rent possession and other housing litigation work for Housing Associations. These types of cases are run through our dedicated case manager system which means that cases are run in a highly automated way using banks of precedent documents checked and approved at partner level. This enables us to conduct the work very efficiently and cost effectively. This work, whilst conducted on a day to day basis by our specialist paralegals, is closely supervised at a senior level.

“We commenced using DMH during 2002 for service charge recovery litigation. We have found them to be responsive and effective in the recovery of arrears and wherever possible all legal costs from the defaulting party. DMH have a positive can do approach at a cost-effective price. To them residential litigation is not the poor relation.”
