Career Development

Our commitment to you.

DMH Stallard fully supports career development. For the firm to be successful and make the most of the opportunities in the marketplace, it is very important that our staff are encouraged and assisted to achieve their full potential. It is in our interest to help you develop your career as quickly as possible and you can count on our support at all times. We recognise that everyone has a valuable contribution to make to DMH Stallard in different ways and at different levels.

The learning and development provision throughout the firm is regarded as first-rate and continues to be a key strength of the firm, the new people development structure is improving the alignment between learning and development (for all employees, not just the professionally qualified) and the business.  In 2015 we launched a new review process called AROM (Annual Review of Objectives Meeting) which has been well received.  This meeting encourages the review of performance, learning and development needs and career progression.

On arrival at the firm  you will attend  a thorough induction which gives all new employees specific training on our IT systems and a clear understanding of the roles of the central support groups across the firm and related policies and procedures.  Our induction practices are carefully planned and implemented, and are highly regarded and effective.

From induction onwards you will embark on a number of courses, workshops and seminars as part of our established in-house training programme.  This training is delivered by a mixture of external and in-house experts, and includes workshops delivered by senior level partners who provide regular opportunities for learning and knowledge development.  Our programme for high-level mentoring and coaching is widely acclaimed for its benefits and impact.

The firm’s approach, under its new senior management team, is to build on existing strengths and further enhance good people practices to deliver better performance throughout the business.

DMH Stallard has been recognised as an Investor in People for over 15 years and in 2015 we were awarded Investors in People accreditation to Silver level.  This is a reflection of excellent people management and people development practices within the firm.

There is a strong commitment to high quality practices and, in addition to the Investors in People accreditation, the firm has been accredited to The Law Society’s quality mark, Lexcel, since 2008

Overall the learning and development function of the firm supports the firm’s strategic goals with regards to valuing people and developing their potential by making learning a key part of our culture.
