Circa £28,000 - £35,000 p/a, dependent on experience

You will work alongside the Learning & Development team, with the wider HR & L&D team consisting of over 8 staff.

We are looking for a Senior Trainer to work with the Learning & Development team, aiming to proactively deliver appropriate training and development activities to meet the needs of the firm. This will include designing and delivering training, conducting learning needs analysis, working closely with managers to identify skills shortages, addressing skills gaps and evaluating training outcomes.


Although this role is based in the Gatwick office, the successful candidate will get the opportunity to meet and support our Staff and Partners across all departments and offices.




The key criteria for the ideal candidate will include:  

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a training role, ideally in a Law Firm. While it is not essential to have worked in a HR environment previously, you should be aware of the personal information that you will have access to and be able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Practical experience of interactive training delivery techniques and learning technologies.
  • Able to exploit new trends and technologies in the training industry, to deliver performance support to the firm using current and flexible methodologies.
  • Knowledge of instructional design, learning management systems and tools to create e-learning a definite advantage.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the full training lifecycle, from training needs analysis, through to effective ways of evaluating knowledge retention and the return on investment for the firm.
  • Knowledge of the principles of project management and business analysis (relevant qualifications would be an advantage) with a history of leading and supporting successful projects.
  • Excellent analytical and evaluative skills paired with an enthusiasm for creating solutions and communicating with a variety of people.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and a reputation as a trusted advisor.
  • Self-motivated, with experience of taking ownership of training programmes and firm-wide roll-outs.
  • Deep understanding of learning technologies, instructional design and experience of creating online training materials.
  • Experience in the delivery of training programmes in formal (e.g. a classroom), informal (e.g. floor-walking) or online (e.g. e-learning and webinar) settings.
  • Highly literate in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, with at least Word and Excel to Expert level (MOS).
  • A track record of following through on commitments, consistently meeting prescribed performance standards and deadlines even when juggling multiple priorities.
  • Willing to make good decisions to an appropriate level of responsibility.
  • Enthusiastic with a positive outlook and the ability to embrace frequent change.
  • Confident, persuasive and supportive of colleagues and management.
  • Innovative in the face of problems, challenges and setbacks.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work in a team sharing a common goal, although you should also be comfortable working independently and without supervision.
  • Knowledge of iManage, Aderant and Axxia is highly desirable.
  • An inquisitive mind and a keen interest in developing peer networks to keep abreast of current thinking and industry changes.
  • Ability to be flexible in tasks, and work additional hours when required.
  • Able to provide support across all of the offices when required, with variable start and finish times on occasions.
