You will work alongside the 16 Staff and Partners in the Corporate London team, with the wider Corporate department consisting of over 36 Staff and Partners being based in our other offices.

We are looking for a Solicitor to operate as an effective member of the Corporate Group, working primarily in the London office. Whilst London is the market we expect you to become known in and build your long term network and specialism, we expect everyone in the Corporate team to be willing to work in Gatwick, Guildford or London, depending on work demands and available resource.


Core work will be on the general M&A markets to include acquisition and sale of private companies, Capital Markets, private equity and financing of private businesses, shareholders agreements and restructuring , together with  corporate support required for banks and other departments.  Initially you will work with other members of the team, but as your experience develops, you will have responsibility for running your own files under supervision.


The team’s focus is building high quality corporate clients, and maintaining and developing relationships with accountant and corporate finance advisers and other referrers in the market. We will involve you in M&A, capital markets and private equity deals and over time with the related business development work.


You will need experience in a wide range of work, and may be required to provide support to the commercial and banking teams if work pressure demands it.



The key criteria for the ideal candidate will include: 

  • Previous experience of Corporate M&A work is required and you will need to demonstrate an ability to do so.
  • Knowledge of the Companies Acts and a working knowledge of corporate transactional processes.
  • Able to effectively manage their time to achieve client and internal deadlines.
  • Understanding the importance of client care with an ability to deal with a wide range of clients with differing objectives including being able to understand the commercial objectives of the client.
  • Able to work within a team and provide support to Associates and Partners as appropriate.
  • Confident Excel skills sufficient to enable the reviewing of relevant matters.
  • Competent IT skills including Outlook, Word, Digital Dictation and Axxia.
  • Ability to draft documentation, with attention to detail.
  • Understanding of the strategy and vision of the firm.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, in writing, over the telephone and in meetings.
  • Convey technical legal information in an effective and accessible way.
