You will work alongside the 12 Partners and Staff in the Real Estate Guildford team, with the wider Real Estate department consisting of over 103 staff and Partners being based in our other offices.

We are looking for a Solicitor or Licensed Conveyancer to join our Real Estate Residential team in our Guildford office.  

 

The role is to operate as an effective member of the Real Estate Guildford team, primarily working on residential property transactions but with scope to gain experience in commercial property and development transactions within the Guildford Real Estate team. The individual is expected to develop good working relationships with clients and other team members, and achieve the targets as defined by the Group Head/Head of Department, including contribution, hours and fees.

 

WHO AND WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The key criteria for the ideal candidate will include:  

  • Solid experience of residential property work is essential together with good drafting skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant property legislation and relevant case law.
  • Previous experience of working closely with clients and acting as their legal advisor
  • Experience of managing and developing client relationships.
  • A willingness to contribute to business development is preferred. 
  • Understanding the importance of client care with an ability to deal with a wide range of clients with differing objectives including being able to understand the commercial objectives of the client
  • Able to effectively manage their time to achieve client and internal deadlines
  • Able to work within a team, supervise more junior fee earners, delegate tasks and support Partners as appropriate
  • Confident Excel skills sufficient to enable the reviewing of relevant matters
  • Competent IT skills including Outlook, Word, Digital Dictation and Axxia Case Management software
  • Ability to draft documentation, with attention to detail
  • Convey technical legal information in an effective and accessible way
