At DMH Stallard, we care about our people, both inside and outside of our business. We recognise that Corporate Social Responsibility is about supporting others, whether that is through charity or offering equal opportunities. We are also committed to reducing the wider impact that we have on the environment and continually work to improve this.
All of our charitable activities are managed through the DMH Stallard Charitable Trust, which is led by an appointed CSR team and headed up by our CSR Partner, Vanessa Joll. Senior members of DMH Stallard make a donation to the Trust once a year on 1 July. These funds are then allocated to CSR activity and financial support is provided to our chosen charities for that year.
As we have multiple offices across three key geographical locations - London, Surrey and Sussex, this year we have chosen to support a charity for each of these areas. We often choose a different charity each year but have been known to work with the same charities year on year.
Our chosen charities for 2020-21
- Change Grow Live - Change Grow Live are a nationwide rehabilitation charity that originated in Sussex. They offer support, advice and practical assistance to individuals that are facing challenges in life, be it drugs or alcohol, trouble with housing, domestic abuse, or their mental and physical wellbeing.
- St. Catherine’s Hospice - St. Catherine’s are a leading provider of hospice care in West Sussex and East Surrey, providing expert hospice care to support people living with terminal illness in their homes, at St. Catherine’s Day Hospices and on their wards. They help around 2,100 terminally ill people, their family members, friends, and carers each year in some of the key local communities in which DMH Stallard operate.
- YMCA DownsLink Group - YMCA DLG are one of the biggest providers of youth services across Sussex and Guildford. It consists of nine local YMCAs delivering a wide range of contracted services and YMCA programmes. YMCA DLG provide a place and space for young people to feel safe through accommodation, training, learning, support and advice, counselling and mediation.
We also have a long standing relationship with IntoUniversity
They are a social mobility charity that provides local learning centres where young people are inspired to achieve. They provide an innovative programme that supports young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to attain either a university place or another chosen aspiration. We have supported Into
University by providing volunteers for their Corporate Mentoring Scheme. Here, our staff volunteer their time to attend one to one meetings with young people that are in their final year of sixth form/college education as they apply for and attend university.
Financial support is just the beginning. We also take part in a number of activities to make sure we work with our chosen charities to meet their objectives. All employees are offered the opportunity to take two paid volunteering days each year to facilitate and encourage this involvement. These activities are not just for our people either - our clients and professional contacts often get involved too.
Previous charity partners
Our video below features our charity partners for 2018-19 and includes Albion in the Community, Cherry Trees and IntoUniversity.
We would like to thank Albion in the Community, Cherry Trees, Rockinghorse and IntoUniversity for contributing to the production of this video.
As a business, DMH Stallard realises the importance of giving something back. Many of our staff provide expertise and support to Boards of local philanthropic causes, charities and business networks.
Minimising environmental impact
The recent publicity surrounding single use plastics and the damage they cause is a concern to us and we are continually reviewing our business practices to ensure we minimise all waste.
We are also working hard to become a paperless firm, using electronic forms of communication where possible. We have active recycling programmes at all of our offices, but our London office is participating in Land Securities’ unique occupier engagement programme, in conjunction with Planet Positive. Through this programme we are saving energy, decreasing waste and recycling 80% of any waste that is created.
We aim to ensure that suppliers we appoint use sustainable sources and encourage staff to take public transport where possible. We offer them free season ticket loans for buses and trains as part of our standard benefits package, as well as the Cycle to Work scheme.
