A partner at law firm DMH Stallard has been named Corporate Lawyer of the Year at the Surrey Law Society Legal Awards 2021.
For many years Helen Mead has been regarded as one of the most accomplished lawyers in the south east mergers and acquisitions sector and has only added to that reputation at DMH Stallard.
Since joining the firm in 2018, she has managed a long list of major deals across a wide range of industries including retail, insurance, IT, tech, building services and aviation.
Helen said:
“Every deal is unique and has its own complexities that demand a mix of skills and experience, so I must first thank the M&A team at DMH Stallard who always provide the full suite of expertise needed to ensure the successful completion of all the deals we advise on.
“Despite the impact of the pandemic we’ve grown significantly as a regional team with a number of senior hires and after a slowdown in deals during the first lockdown, we’re now seeing market activity at near record levels.”
The award recognised Helen’s advice to the shareholders of Atelier Ten, an award-winning environmental design consultancy, on its merger with Surbana Jurong Group, a major global urban infrastructure and managed services consultancy firm headquartered in Singapore. The high value deal involved Helen acting for 27 shareholders based around the globe, with differences in time, language, culture and Covid restrictions adding to the challenge.
Jonathan Grant, Partner at DMH Stallard and Head of Corporate, said:
“Helen has delivered in excess of £50m worth of deals in the last 12 months. With a string of quality deals to her name, Helen is now leading our fast growing Surrey corporate team. This award is richly deserved and no doubt not the last to recognise her outstanding achievements in the M&A sector.”
