DMH Stallard’s debt collection team improves cash flow for commercial clients

10 Nov 2021

Leading South East law firm DMH Stallard recovers £134,600 in unpaid debts for major international medical company.

The Debt Recovery team, led by Simon Elcock, was instructed to deal with over 200 debts on behalf of a global dental equipment manufacturer and supplier. The team issued a total of 217 letters before action in a 48 hour period, which were sent to the client’s debtors. Within 6 weeks, a large number of accounts had been paid in full and recoveries amounted to nearly £135,000, at a modest cost to the client.

Partner and Head of the Dispute Resolution team, Simon Elcock, said:

“I am very proud of the team and the work they have delivered; our client is  delighted with the initial results we have achieved. For every £1 spent on legal fees, we have recovered over £50 for our client. Our team has developed a highly effective and bespoke service for the recovery of uncontested debts, allowing us to recover significant amounts of cash for our clients quickly and at a low cost. This is an excellent result all round and typical of the outcomes we deliver to our clients in this area of work.”

Simon Elcock and his team are now coordinating with the client to send out follow up letters to the remaining outstanding accounts and take further action if necessary.

The Debt Recovery team was recently commended for their legal expertise in the 2022 Legal 500 directory, achieving a Tier 1 ranking. Clients recognise them as “always prompt and professional with their help/guidance” and “a friendly, approachable and professional service with an honest assessment of the best way forward.”  They work for clients with a high volume of invoices and across a number of sectors, including professional services and manufacturing.

The Dispute Resolution team at DMH Stallard includes the firm’s Debt Recovery, Commercial Disputes and Insolvency practices, amongst others, meaning they are able to work with clients at all stages of the recovery process, including where Court or bankruptcy/insolvency proceedings are required.
