The Horsham Resident of the Month for October was described as a ‘superpowered fundraiser’ at a presentation this week.
Chloe Bain was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2020 and, in her own words, had her ‘life turned upside down for a while’.
On her Justgiving page and Instagram profile @positivity_pants – Chloe lists some of her journey in numbers, including five hours of brain surgery, 43 rounds of radiotherapy and 12 rounds of chemotherapy and much, much more, but through it all she has been determined to live positively with her diagnosis and raise money for research into the condition.
Now an ambassador for The Brain Tumour Charity, Chloe has raised over £10,000 so far through sponsored challenges and cake bakes, and is currently planning her next fundraiser.
Chloe said:
“Nothing about a tough diagnosis is easy but for me the only way to face it is to try and stay positive and make the most of every day. Fundraising for better treatment and ultimately cures is vital and I’m happy to do my bit.”

Organised by the West Sussex County Times and Horsham-based solicitors DMH Stallard, the Resident of the Month Award recognises unsung heroes who deserve recognition for their outstanding contribution to society. In addition to receiving her certificate, Chloe will enjoy a complimentary meal for two at a Horsham restaurant.
Nigel Winter, Partner at DMH Stallard in the family team, said:
“The positivity that radiates from both Chloe and her mum Julie is tangible and I was delighted to meet them both.
“Chloe is an incredible and inspiring young woman and a superpowered fundraiser for The Brain Tumour Charity. She has been through so much but whatever the hurdle she overcomes it.
“From talking to Chloe and Julie it is clear that investment in research into brain tumours is far too low and I encourage anyone who can to donate to the charity.”
The Brain Tumour Charity is the world’s leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally. Committed to saving and improving lives, the charity is moving further and faster to help every single person affected by a brain tumour.
