The City of London is a leader in financial and professional services. It also invests heavily in community initiatives that help change lives and make a wider positive impact. The Lord Mayor’s appeal has recognised that there are a lack of opportunities for companies to showcase and celebrate their philanthropic and volunteering achievements and wanted to find more ways to inspire others to get involved, and this saw the launch of City Giving Day back in 2015.
City Giving Day is one day in the year, that encourages both small businesses and large corporations all over London to unite behind a common cause, engage with their employees and the public, raise money for their charitable partners and have fun doing so. This year on 24th September, City Giving Day saw a record 424 companies register, and the London office of DMH Stallard teamed up with our neighbours in New Street Square to coordinate a number of fundraising activities throughout the day.
Together, we transformed New Street Square into a 9 hole crazy golf course, welcoming the public to play, donate to the Lord Mayor’s appeal and our charitable partners. Alderman, Sir Charles Bowman paid us a visit with his wife, and the rain didn’t stop him playing a full round of golf. Our employees were encouraged to wear red, the colour associated with City Giving Day, and donate to charity for the privilege and took part in an office raffle and wine tasting amongst other fundraising activities. Throughout London hundreds of other events took place for firms to get involved in such as City walks, static bike competitions, quiz’s and treasure hunts to name just a few. It’s safe to say the day was a success and despite the weather, the City of London buzzed with energy and enthusiasm!
The money raised through our efforts reached close to £500 and will be going to Future Dreams, the charity chosen by our London Office to support this year. Future Dreams is a charity that wants to ensure nobody ever has to face breast cancer on their own, raising awareness and funds to support women going through their breast cancer journey.
