01 Mar 2022

City law firm DMH Stallard has announced a partner hire in their London litigation practice.

Matthew Akers joins DMH Stallard from Weil, Gotshal & Manges where he acted for major corporations and financial institutions in a wide range of international commercial disputes.

Matthew’s experience and expertise includes disputes related to structured finance products, fraud and corruption, regulatory investigations, cross-border insolvencies, worldwide freezing injunctions and shareholder disputes.

Simon Elcock, Head of Dispute Resolution, said:

“This appointment is very exciting for the firm and for our clients. Matthew is a superb litigator and brings a wealth of experience from numerous sectors, most notably banking and financial services, energy, retail and hospitality.

His reputation for achieving outstanding results for his clients is well known and a reflection of the firm’s ability and determination to attract the most talented lawyers.”

Matthew also has extensive arbitration experience having represented clients before ad hoc and institutional tribunals under all the major arbitral rules, including London, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Matthew said:

“I’m delighted to be joining DMH Stallard at a time when the firm is going through a period of dynamic growth, both in London and in the wider south east.

“DMH Stallard’s commercial litigation practice has a first-class reputation in the city and it’s very exciting for me to be joining such an established and accomplished team.”
