- A claim against an estate Katie was administering was made by a relative who was not provided for under the terms of the will. It was claimed that the will was invalid as the testator lacked mental capacity at the time of making it. We successfully argued that the testator had the necessary capacity, and the claim was settled out of court with minimal cost to the beneficiaries.
- Katie dealt with a grant of probate where the deceased died domiciled in Australia but owned property in the UK. Due to the distance and time difference, Katie dealt with all matters relating to the UK property, including obtaining the grant, bringing the tenancy at the property to an end, clearing the property and liaising with the agents regarding the sale.
- Katie drafted an urgent application to the Court of Protection where it was believed that the Deputies appointed to act on behalf of a vulnerable elderly person were not acting in that person’s best interests. She successfully had the Deputies removed, and a new Deputy appointed in their place.
