You will work alongside the 16 Partners and Staff in the Corporate Gatwick team, with the wider Corporate department consisting of over  34 staff and Partners being based in our other offices.

We are looking for a Paralegal to operate as an effective member of the Commercial Team within the Corporate Group, specialising in non-contentious commercial work, including, commercial contracts, technology/IP, information law and corporate support.  You will work on client projects, dealing, in particular, with contract reviews, supporting the preparation and issue of documentation, liaising with clients and their other professional advisors, and general file administration.

 

WHO AND WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The key criteria for the ideal candidate will include: 

 

·A law degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Law, or other degree and appropriate law conversion course.

·Previous legal work experience ideally as part of an in-house team or within the commercial/business affairs team of a law firm. “Real world” commercial experience is an advantage; energy and enthusiasm essential!

·A commitment to excellent client care.

·Accurate and efficient time recording skills.

·A high level of attention to detail.

·Effective administration and technical skills (including reasonably fast and accurate typing skills) and the ability to work unsupervised and to tight deadlines: the mix of administration against technical and commercial skills will need to be balanced, and there is some flexibility here.

·Previous diary management experience helpful.

·Excellent IT skills with experience in Microsoft products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

·Ability to communicate well (whether in writing, face to face, or on the phone) including dealing directly with clients, when required, together with a flexible approach in presenting advice in a client-friendly manner.

·Able to identify problems, complaints and risk management.

·Experience in a case manager system desirable, but full training will be given.

·Effective administrative, communication and team working skills.
