Immigration Skills Charge
From 16 December 2025, the Immigration Skills Charge is increasing by 32%. This means that, as an employer, you will be paying 32% more when you sponsor a skilled worker visa. This is equivalent to a £1,600 increase on what you would have paid as a skills charge where it applies on a five-year visa.
English Language Requirements
Visa applicants going through the Skilled Worker Route are also required to have English language skills at Level B2, where, previously, this was only required at Level B1. For existing visa holders on the Skilled Worker Route, these rules do not apply. However, for new entrants, greater English language skills must be shown.
English language skills must be demonstrated either through a four-facet secure English language test at the higher B2 level, or the applicant must show that they have studied a degree, or equivalent course, that has been taught in the English language.
As with all Immigration applications, it is always recommended that advice is sought from an immigration solicitor.
