How we have helped our local communities
We are proud supporters of our local communities and are dedicated to lending our time to projects in Surrey, Sussex and London, whether we are getting hands-on or raising money and awareness so our charity partners can continue to provide their services to those who need them.
Our approach to CSR in our Communities covers three main areas:
- Charitable fundraising, donations and support
- Volunteering our skills and time
- Community involvement
Our CSR Committee is led by Partner, Simon Bellm, who is supported by representatives across the firm to work alongside charities and come up with ideas that everyone can get involved in.
Our CSR Committee has longstanding relationships with a number of local charities within our communities and we also participate in national events such as Comic Relief and Macmillan coffee mornings. We are happy to hear about new initiatives that may need a helping hand.

Charitable fundraising, donations and support
Our focus is on working with and supporting charities who are actively engaged in the local and business community and which reflect the passions and interests of our people. Some of our recent fundraising activities have included:
– A virtual La Boucle de France; cycling, walking, running or swimming. Together we covered over 3000 miles raising money for Grief Encounter.
– Sponsored walks in London, Surrey and Sussex for local legal advice centres, Cherry Trees and Grief Encounter.
– Supporting local music and jazz charitable events.
– Cake sales and quizzes across our offices including for Macmillan Cancer.
Cherry Trees is a charity who offer specialist respite for children and young adults with a range of complex disabilities, including physical, mental and sensory impairments. DMH Stallard has been a long-standing supporter of this Guildford based charity and continue to help them through a range of fundraising activities, headline sponsorship at events and lending a hand to paint the respite centre and clear garden space.
St Catherine’s Hospice offers support to people living in Sussex and Surrey, both physical and emotional, to those with a terminal illness and their families. In addition to caring for those who are terminally ill, they offer bereavement and carer support, including support for children and young adults through counselling. DMH Stallard has helped St Catherine’s Hospice for many years and continues to do so with various fundraising challenges, including a ‘virtual “trek” from St. Catherine’s Hospice to Tokyo in time for the last Olympics and supporting their Midnight Walk. The money raised from our efforts went towards the building of their new hospice in Pease Pottage.
Empowering the Next Generation – DMH Stallard hosts skills workshop as part of the First Step Programme run by NatWest
Demonstrating its deep commitment to community and client support, DMH Stallard was delighted to host a dynamic workshop designed to equip 17-19 years olds with presentation and negotiations skills. We were joined by participants in both London and Edinburgh.
Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation’s Corporate Albion Games
DMH Stallard sponsored the 2025 Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation’s Corporate Albion Games. Teams competed in six disability sports which included wheelchair basketball, seated volleyball, visually-impaired football, a one-leg penalty shootout, goalball and boccia.
This was the second year in a row that the the firm has sponsored the event. All the money raised from the event goes towards funding the work of the Foundation which uses the power of football to help people get active, learn and stay well throughout Sussex.
Woodingdean Primary Scool
DMH Stallard donated 30 laptops to Woodingdean Primary School in Brighton. The laptops were delivered to the school by the firm’s Managing Partner, Richard Pollins who said:
“Some children in education have unequal access to technology compared to their peers. DMH Stallard has strong and long-standing ties to Brighton and we take our commitment to the local community very seriously, so I’m absolutely delighted these laptops are going to a good home at Woodingdean Primary School.”
La Boucle de France challenge for Grief Encounter
Raised over £5000, providing one child with specialist, life-changing, 1:1 bereavement support for an entire year.
Wrap up!
Across the firm, we collected warm clothing and coats to support Wrap Up Brighton and Wrap up London! These were divided amongst several local charities and distributed to vulnerable people, including the elderly, children, low-income families, the homeless and women’s refuge.
Volunteering our skills and time
We aim to use our skills, time and resources to engage with and support the communities around us, involving our clients and a range of strategic partners, to best meet community needs. Our firmwide Volunteering Policy all our people to take paid time off to undertake certain volunteering during normal working hours.
Change of scene
Change of Scene is a charity based in Farnham, who offer animal assisted learning to young people who may be experiencing difficulties in education. DMH Stallard were invited to Change of Scene in April 2023 to assist with farming maintenance and upkeep. The team’s work involved: herding alpacas and sheep (with some challenges!); disassembling the enclosure and fence; reassembling the enclosure and fence on adjoining land; and safely relocating the animals onto a neighbouring field.
CLIPS – Chancery Bar Litigant in Person Support Scheme
Associate Alex Dawson recently appeared in the High Court under the Chancery Bar Litigant in Person Support Scheme (CLiPS) in his capacity as a solicitor advocate.
CLiPS focuses on supporting litigants in person with urgent applications before the Court. In this case, there were applications seeking interim injunctive relief, joining third parties, and amending pleadings.
DMH Stallard LLP is proud to support CLiPS and other pro bono initiatives.
Community involvement
Our people often use their skills and experience to support local communities. This may be as a Trustee, Board Member or more general involvement and support. Some examples include Brighton Dome & Festival Limited, Cherry Trees and Crawley Town Centre Partnership.
