The workshop brought together young people from the NatWest First Step Programme and offered them a unique opportunity to develop essential life and career skills in a professional environment. Participants explored the fundamentals of confident public speaking, body language, persuasive communication, and core negotiation tactics – skills that are as vital in daily life as they are in the legal world.
Led by Simon Elcock, Olga Wierzchowska, and, Andreea Lupu, the session combined hands on activities, practical role play scenarios and real world examples. The aim was to help students not only build technical ability but also to gain the confidence to express themselves clearly and advocate for their interests – whether in a university interview, job, or future career.
Simon Elcock, Partner said:
“Supporting our clients also means investing in the the future of our communities. We see first-hand how vital communication and negotiation skills are. This initiative is about sharing knowledge in a meaningful way with young people who are just starting to shape their own futures”.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Stephen Brennan, Senior Legal Counsel said:
“Thank you for a great and engaging session today and for your support of our programme this year. It’s very much appreciated”.
Simon Bellm, Partner, and CSR Lead said:
“This event was part of a broader commitment by DMH Stallard to community engagement, education and accessibility. We are proud to stand beside our clients and our community in every way that we can”.
