Alicia is a Partner in the Family Team. She advises her clients in a constructive manner with a view to directing the parties’ energies and costs towards the best outcome in all the circumstances. She often acts for Spanish speaking clients in proceedings in England and Wales, speaking fluent Spanish herself. This provides them with the confidence and reassurance that they are able to fully understand the process. Alicia is also undertaking her International Accreditation in Financial Abuse.
Her specialist areas include the law relating to children; including who children should live with and with whom they should spend time. Alicia has acted on behalf of parents and grandparents including Special Guardianship proceedings. She has also acted for applicant parents in international surrogacy cases, successfully obtaining Parental Orders at the RCJ.
Alicia works primarily in our London office but also collaborates closely with colleagues in our other locations.
Alicia also specialises in divorce procedure, including the financial aspects spanning from drafting orders by consent reflecting amicably agreed terms to contentious proceedings. She provides legal and practical advice to cohabitees as well as those embarking on marriage wishing to protect assets by entering into a Pre-Nuptial Agreement.
Work highlights
SURROGACY ARRANGEMENTS
Applying for and successfully attaining Parental Orders for parents involved in international surrogacy arrangements, providing them with the legal rights of birth parents through ordered default transfer of Parental Responsibility.
CHILDREN ARRANGEMENTS
Successfully achieving extended holiday and majority weekend contact for a parent with whom the child had not previously spent time overnight, building on the strength of their existing bond and benefitting from the engagement of relevant experts to attest to the relationship and capabilities of the parent.
PRE-NUPTIAL AGREEMENTS
Drafting and negotiating an increasing number of Pre-Nuptial Agreements on behalf of clients wishing to ring-fence inherited, family and accumulated wealth.
FINANCIAL SETTLEMENT
Reaching financial settlement by consent in cases involving property portfolios, complex pension structures as well as vested and unvested bonus schemes applicable to the period of the marriage up to and including separation.
