‘Friends and Lots of Fudge’ tells the story of how Megan’s life has turned into a series of problems and follows her search for hope. With top reviews for the book on Amazon, the pupil at St Marys CE Primary School also held her very first book signing at Natty Noo in Horsham’s Carfax, where the book can still be purchased.
Organised by the West Sussex County Times and sponsored by Horsham solicitors DMH Stallard, the Resident of the Month Award recognises people in the community for their outstanding achievements.
Nigel Winter is a partner in the Family team at DMH Stallard and met Amy last week to present her with a special certificate.
Nigel said:
“I’m certain that Amy is destined for great things as an author and it’s exciting to think that her accomplishments will inspire other young people to achieve their dreams too.
“It was lovely to meet her and discuss her book and what plans she has for her next one.”
Aged eight, Amy was voted ‘most likely to become an author’ at school, and just two years later in Year 5 she was encouraged to write a story that might be published. Local artist Gill Jones produced some illustrations for the book and designed the front cover.
Amy said:
“I’m really excited to have published my first book, and am working on my next story at the moment. Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me and bought the book.”
As part of her award, Amy also receives a voucher to spend at local outlets of her choice.
