Completed on 15 April 2026, the transaction saw SAVANA acquire the assets and intellectual property associated with the globally recognised Gutter Games portfolio, including the bestselling party game Beat That!, alongside titles such as Gutterhead, Trunk of Drunk, and 12 Games of Christmas.
The deal marks SAVANA’s first overseas acquisition and first M&A transaction, supporting the company’s continued growth plans across the UK, US, Australia and continental Europe.
Founded in Paris, SAVANA operates across Europe and North America through retail, e-commerce and direct-to-consumer channels. The acquisition expands the company’s portfolio of family, party and children’s games, while creating new opportunities to grow the Gutter Games catalogue across key international markets.
Kay Miles, Senior Corporate Associate at DMH Stallard, said:
This was a particularly interesting transaction because of the multi-jurisdictional structure involved and the complexity of the asset and IP arrangements. Gutter Games is a globally recognised brand with significant commercial value, so ensuring the intellectual property elements were properly secured and transferred was a key part of the process.
It was a pleasure supporting SAVANA on its first overseas acquisition and helping the business reach this exciting stage in its growth journey.
Romain Chemière de Carné, President and Founder of SAVANA, added:
This marks an exciting step for SAVANA as our first overseas deal and first M&A transaction. DMH Stallard was instrumental in helping us navigate a complex multi-jurisdictional process involving stakeholders across several territories.
The responsiveness, attention to detail and steady guidance provided by Kay Miles, Senior Associate at DMH Stallard, ensured we always felt in very good hands throughout the transaction. The intellectual property expertise and advice on extracting the assets from security of Debbie Venn, Justine Tocher and the banking team was invaluable. We greatly appreciated working with such a collaborative team and look forward to working together again on future opportunities.
Structured as a business and asset purchase, the deal involved several cross-border legal and intellectual property considerations. The Gutter Games brand was held in an English company owned by a German group, while SAVANA worked alongside German and US advisers throughout the process.
DMH Stallard’s corporate and commercial teams advised SAVANA on all legal aspects of the transaction, including the intellectual property matters central to the deal. The transaction highlights DMH Stallard’s experience advising businesses on complex cross-border M&A deals involving intellectual property and multi-jurisdictional legal considerations.
