EMPLOYMENT

Employment Club, Brighton 17 September 2026

Our Employment team would like to invite you to our new Employment Club which takes the format of a roundtable discussion lead by our expert team in our Brighton office, designed to keep you ahead of the curve on all things Employment.

The Team will provide updates to employers on recent changes in employment law and refreshers on good practice, as well as facilitating an opportunity for attendees to discuss their own challenges, experiences, and expertise.

In our next session, our team will be discussing various challenges associated with capability/performance management including:

  • How to deal with the grey area between capability and conduct
  • When might “gross negligence” justify summary dismissal
  • What do you do where things have been allowed to drift and now managers want action taken as soon as possible? How can informal discussions or formal appraisals help or hinder the situation?
  • What happens when ill health begins to affect an employee’s ability to do the role? What procedure should you use? Are staged warnings necessary? What do you need to keep in mind?
  • Capability problems early on in the employment relationship. What particular issues arise?

Employment Club is free to attend, and tea, coffee, and breakfast pastries will be provided. (*Please note: these sessions are aimed at employers and/or HR professionals*)
