Carolina Colman Pecapedra

Fully qualified solicitor from Uruguay currently working as a paralegal within the Sussex Corporate team.

In November 2018, Carolina obtained her Bachelor’s degree of Doctor in Law and Social Sciences from the Faculty of Law, at the Uruguay State University. This bachelor’s degree trains professionals in a comprehensive understanding of Legal Sciences, promoting the development of analytic capacity to resolve legal issues with a humanitarian approach. It’s a six-year degree that equipped her with a high-level ability to participate in all aspects of the legal process.

Her previous experience as a paralegal was for a Uruguayan law firm located in Montevideo, where Carolina worked within the litigation team, assisting solicitors to manage the practical aspects of their casework. Her main tasks were drafting documents, gathering and collecting evidence and preparing court files and documents. The main areas she was involved in were commercial and intellectual property.

Carolina also volunteered as a legal advisor at the State University’s non-profit legal clinic. This is a nationally recognised support service that provides legal advice and representation to citizens with low, or no income. The main areas that she was involved in were family disputes, employment law and access to health.

Carolina’s immediate goal is to qualify as a solicitor in the UK by sitting the SQE examinations.
