Ingrid is both a solicitor and a barrister and is known for her considered approach to inheritance tax planning.
She works with high net worth individuals on strategies to save inheritance tax and encourages clients to put strategies in place to reduce their liability. She is ideally placed to advise high net worth individuals, entrepreneurs, owner managed businesses and their families.
Ingrid regularly advises clients on capital gains mitigation, stamp duty, land tax mitigation and the incorporation of businesses including large property portfolio’s owned in sole or joint names. This mitigates both SDLT and Capital Gains Tax. Once incorporated, there are a number of inheritance tax saving strategies that can be implemented.
Ingrid works primarily in our London office but also collaborates closely with colleagues in our other locations.
Ingrid’s clients include accountants that outsource tax consultancy, providing services to their clients. Ingrid has advised on everything from s455 charges on loans to director/shareholders, to the purchase of a large Manor House where substantial SDLT was recovered. She is an expert in trusts, estate planning and succession planning, including restructuring of companies and domicile issues.
Ingrid has advised overseas clients (and those with a domicile of origin in the UK) on escaping the UK IHT net through the use of offshore trusts to hold UK assets, whilst they continue to be domiciled abroad. She also advises on the UK connections they need to avoid that may bring them within the net.

Tax changes in the Budget for non-doms
As expected, on 30 October 2024 the UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced some major changes to the tax treatment of non-UK domiciled (non-doms) individuals.
