Jo Rovery, Lawyer, Partner, Real Estate, DMH Stallard
Advises private and corporate investors, developers, charities, traders, retailers, banks, insolvency practitioners and pension funds on commercial real estate and banking matters.

Jo has experience in dealing with landlord and tenant transactions for both landlord investor clients and occupier trading clients, together with acquisitions and disposals, sales conditional on planning and conditional contracts, option agreements for both landowners and developers, and portfolio asset management.

Jo has particular expertise in secured lending, acting on a wide variety of matters including acting for corporate and private lenders and borrowers in residential, commercial and mixed-use site acquisitions, development funding (particularly in the residential development market), portfolio refinancing and restructuring. She works closely with the firm’s Banking and Finance and Construction teams.

Jo also specialises in insolvency sales, acting for liquidators and administrators on distress sales and disposals of properties, supporting the firm’s Restructuring and Insolvency team.

Jo works primarily in our Gatwick office but also collaborates closely with colleagues in our other locations.

Work highlights

REFINANCING

Acting for a banking client on a separate representation basis where the Borrower was looking to refinance its portfolio of properties in order to obtain an £8 million loan.


MIXED-USE SITE ACQUISITION

Acting for a developer client on the acquisition and refinance and then subsequent lettings of a mixed-use site incorporating a hotel, social housing, restaurant and supermarket including a £25 million refinancing loan involving a range of security and collateral warranties.


CONVERSION

Facilitating a property investment company’s conversion of a freehold warehouse to office space with bank funding, incorporating agreements on capital contributions, building contract and construction related warranties, with an agreement for lease with the tenant (being a large financial institution) whereby the tenant was to undertake the conversion at the landlord’s expense.


USINESS SALE

Supporting the M&A team on the property aspects on a £60m business sale, including complicated title issues, environmental aspects and the grant of an Energy from Waste lease from the seller to the buyer.
