In this webinar our Employment team focused on flexibility, and the challenges and opportunities it presents for employers as we start to emerge from ‘lockdown’. We delve deeper into the recently announced flexible furlough scheme, assessing the strengths and limitations of its flexibility rules.
We explore the familiar statutory right to request flexible working, and how employers might look to manage a potential surge from employees who have adapted well to a pattern of home working and flexible hours during lockdown. Finally, we look at flexibility more broadly and over the longer view, including how employers might seek to introduce greater contractual powers of flexibility in contracts, to be better placed if something like the recent pandemic should ever happen again.
