Ian has been advising on commercial property strategy and transactions for 25 years.

His client base includes property entrepreneurs, developers and investors. Ian also advises multiple occupiers, and on secured lending transactions for both financial institutions and borrowers.

He is well regarded by clients and property professionals alike, and has a particularly strong reputation within the real estate community along the south coast of Sussex.

Ian joined DMH Stallard in December 2019 having spent 20 years as a partner in another regional law firm.

Recent work examples

  • Advising on the assembly of a development site in London and agreeing a complex build programme and pre-let to Travelodge for a 140+ room hotel, with further pre-lets of the ground floor commercial units at a total initial rent return in excess of £1.5 million per annum
  • Acting on the sale of a £4 million development site on the Sussex coast intended for residential development (60 units) subject to obtaining the necessary planning approval
  • Acting on the collapse of a leases structure involving an application to court for a declaration and vesting order, then granting a complex lease including landlord and tenant works for a prime site in Hampshire to be occupied by a blue-chip financial services company prior to sale of the site as an investment
