How we've helped
We acted for one of the world’s leading banks in relation to a mortgage advance of approximately £900,000 against a property valued in the region of £1.1 million. The solicitors instructed by the bank on this transaction had secured a first legal charge on the bank’s behalf, but over the wrong property, which only had a value of around £15,000. Accordingly, our client bank was effectively unsecured against its substantial loan and the situation was further complicated by the borrower having been declared bankrupt. We advised the bank in relation to a claim against its former solicitors and were able to achieve an excellent settlement of this matter for our client with a very significant sum being paid by the former solicitors’ insurers.
